Elvis was in my apartment last night.
Well, sort of - I had the sudden urge to play some of his stuff, so I downloaded a 1972 Las Vegas concert, when he was at his peak - timeless stuff. As a kid, I remember buying "The wonder of you", one of his last singles, I think, before he died.
Some people say he isn't dead, and there have been various 'sightings' over the years - working in McDonald's, selling fast-track passes at Alton Towers, working in a car wash in Manchester ("The best hand-job in the North") and selling melons on a beach in Hawaii. I think I've seen him twice myself - once in the chippy at Rood Hill in Congleton and more recently driving a taxi here in China, but he was heavily disguised. I think it was him singing "Hound dog" that made me suspicious.
I stayed up last night, listening to music and watching DVD's - 'The best exotic Marigold Hotel' (fantastic) an this morning, 'Wanderlust', a comedy with Jennifer Aniston, which is pretty much like ever other comedy with Jennifer Aniston you've watched previously. If you get 'The Chronicle', you can read my reviews in there. If you don't, you can't.
Not sure what today will bring - a planned 'boys night out' tonight has been cancelled (thank goodness) - I think they only invite me because I make them laugh, and disappear every time we pass a DVD shop. I catch up with them a few moments later and show them what I've bought, but to be honest, I think they are more interested in the pole dancing, and when I say "Eight quid for a beer? Jeez - I could buy 7 DVD's for that!" they tell me to "F*ck off home!", so I do.
Whatever - me and Elvis had a great time last night.
