Two updates in one day? Goodness..
I think my hosts realised how much I struggled with the food last night…and as I’m flying back to Beijing tomorrow (hopefully – the snow is so bad, strongly suspect the one-flight-in-a-day, one-flight-out-a-day may be delayed / cancelled and I’ll have to stay even longer in this God-forsaken place) they took me to the most ‘Western’ restaurant there is round here (KFC excluded – I’d rather eat the deformed shark)…
It was a sort of BBQ where you cook stuff yourself, on a burner / wok thing….yes, I was fearful the thing may explode (they often do – maiming & killing quite frequently) but managed to eat more than usual, so I was quite grateful.
However, I had the urge to walk back to my ‘hotel’ alone (mad – in my suit, with flat shoes, just after a snow blizzard!) and sat (well, stood shivering) quietly by a tree….you don’t see many trees over here…and I contemplated people & life back home….
