Annoying the neighbours (volume 1)

Just writing this week's column, but keep stopping to sit back in my chair and say (to myself) - "AWESOME!" or even for some 'air' drumming or guitar.

On the playlist at the moment (and annoying next door)

Transatlantic 'The Whirlwind' (From 'More Never is Enough' Live) because it was recorded in Manchester and I was there! The word AWESOME was invented for that night!!

Pink Floyd 'Pulse' Live, watching on DVD - staggering light show - even awesome!!!

Flower Kings 'Banks of Eden' Not totally convinced, but keep giving it a go. May need time. Reviewed in this week's Chron.

Porcupine Tree 'Iiosaairock' Live (again) and a great opener with 'Fear of a blank planet'. Great drummer!

Morse, Portnoy & George 'Cover 2 cover' Some of my fave musicians having fun doing covers. Check out the furious version of The Osmonds' 'Crazy Horses'!!

Coldplay Live Denmark August 28 Radio broadcast. Saw them in Manchester a while ago - fantastic live band. The climax of 'Fix You' is always incredible.

Dido 'Here with you' Live track - love it. Popped into my head the other day (don't know why) so downloaded it. What happened to her?

The Police 'Can't stand losing you' Live track from when they were SO fast & furious and Sting hadn't become a pretentious tosser. Stuart Copeland is scarily good on drums.

Fish 'Heart of Lothian' Live track from a 1991 gig. Great track from Marillion's best album.

So now, there are over 2,000 people who read this thinking "why has he posted this blog?" Truth is, nowt better to do. You don' have to read it. And you don't have to say you love me, just be close at hand (Dusty Springfield and NOT on my playlist at the moment)

  1. If you're going to promote Dusty tracks then it's got to be Son of a Preacher Man I'm afraid.
